Semi-finished liners are used in engine cylinder blocks where final machining is required after installation. They are supplied with a rough inner surface and must undergo boring and honing to achieve the correct diameter and surface finish for proper piston fit. The outer diameter is pre-finished with a 0.05 mm oversize to ensure a secure locking fit in the cylinder block.
